Appliqué is a needlework technique in which one or more pieces of fabric are attached to a larger background fabric to create pictures or patterns. The fabric can be attached by hand, machine or fused. The word comes from the French meaning “applies or laid on another material”.

In the beginner friendly, 2-hour class we will explore different hand-applique techniques including:

  • Fused appliqué

  • Raw edge appliqué

  • Needle turn appliqué

  • Reverse appliqué

After learning this technique, you will be able to embellish any textile or clothing item, opening up a world of creative possibilities.

All materials are provided. You are welcome to bring an article of clothing or other textile you would like to appliqué. Special fabrics from your personal stash are always encouraged.

Cancellation Policy

For classes that are multiple dates or a series, cancellations must be for the entire session, rather than individual dates. Refunds described below are less credit card fees. Cancellations made more than 14 days in advance of the start of a class or session are fully refundable; cancellations that are made within 7 - 14 days prior to the start of a class or session are 50% refundable. Cancellations made less than 7 days prior to the start of a class or session are not refundable. Note that classes with less than 3 students enrolled are subject to cancellation by Estero Bay Art + Craft and will be fully refunded, including credit card fees.
