Come enjoy a fun hands-on project, which celebrates the colorful and meaningful traditions of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).

We’ll decorate traditional sugared skulls, bringing them to life with color, sequins, and meaningful designs; create a shared Day of the Dead altar (ofrenda) to honor loved ones or pets who have died; and explore the five essential components of an altar, what they represent, and how you can bring this beautiful tradition into your own home. We’ll also enjoy traditional pan de muerto.

As we create, we’ll discuss the significance behind these traditions and the joyful way Día de los Muertos embraces the cycles of life and death.

Bring your curiosity and, a photograph of a deceased loved one to include on our shared altar.

This workshop is designed for adults and children (children 8 and younger must be accompanied by an adult). Bring a friend or the whole family. Each participant will have the opportunity to decorate two sugared skulls.

Offered by Dawn Feuerberg, a Spanish professor of 28 years and founder of Aurora Adventures, LLC, a curated travel and event company connecting people with Indigenous cultures and wildlife. For more than 20 years, Dawn has offered bilingual Day of the Dead educational programs and events for all ages. She is passionate about sharing the beauty, cultural richness, and deeper meaning of this often-misunderstood holiday.
